We have made some fantastic friends in Tonga. This is (most of) our Tuesday night bible study. Drew and Vill are missing and there have been some new additions since this photo was taken.
We are people from 7 different nations (Tonga, NZ, Australia, America, Japan, Philippines, Fiji) who are all working, living and serving in Tonga. We are doing everything from working with Team Extreme at Youth With a Mission, being the hospital pediatrician, setting up libraries, being tour operators, translating bibles, working with the FWCT, teaching scripture in schools, working in the local pharmacy, teaching kindergarten and more.
In particular, I have a special place in my heart for Evelyn and Sione, pictured in photo 3. They are Elisabeth’s parents and have very much taken us under their wing.
Chelsea is one of the new additions I was mentioning. This is her, drinking milkshakes with Elisabeth and I, after a successful morning shopping at the flea market. Chelsea is in Tonga to work at the Mango Tree, which is a centre for children who have special needs.
Tonga is full of awesome people.
In spite of the many challenges involved in living in a country with a vastly different culture, it’s good for us to hear that you’re making some wonderful friends. Thanks for posting the good news too!
